45 years and still going strong!

As we enter our 45th year JET Performance Products continues to be a leader in the Tuning Industry.

 45 years ago the company was started as an engine building and carburetor shop specializing in Drag Racing applications. The company ran many of its own Drag Cars and held both IHRA and NHRA national records in three different classes. Over the next several years as the company continued to grow it was apparent that Carburetor tuning was the company’s future as they had established themselves as the go to guys if you wanted a carburetor tuned right. This led to the company being named  Mike Jones Carburetion after the company’s founder and for the next 17 years the company developed and tuned carburetors and fuel systems for some of the top names in Drag Racing, Nascar and Off Road racing in addition to performance street applications.

In 1985 Mike Jones sold the Carburetor company to the current owner Bryant Seller. Already a tuner, drag racer and mechanic Bryant was looking for a company that he could use to develop new products and as his new tuning shop. 

Starting in 1985 the Performance Aftermarket was entering a new era with the introduction of computer controlled fuel injection in most new vehicles, and tuning was about to change forever. As with most changes the Performance Aftermarket industry didn’t take to the idea and the talk was that the Performance Industry was doomed! Seeing these changes as an opportunity Bryant, along with a friend that was an electronics wizard set out to reverse engineer these new computer controlled cars and trucks to see what could be done to improve the performance. After many late nights and thousands of hours of research and development JET Performance Products was formed and we released our first performance chips for General Motors applications.

Since those early years JET has come a long way, we have developed a wide array of new products that fit almost every application that’s available today. With over 30,000 applications for both Domestic, Import and even Marine use, JET continues to lead the industry. The 2013 website is filled with new products and applications that are only available from JET Performance Products. Our Engineers and development team continue to bring you new and innovative products that have undergone extensive Research and Development and have been rigorously tested to ensure you are getting the most performance out of your application with complete reliability .In addition, as we continue to lead the way in computer tuning we are still maintaining our roots with the JET line of performance carburetors employing some of the best carburetor tuners in the business.

A note from Bryant Seller, President, JET Performance Products, Inc.

There have been a lot of people over the past 28 years that have helped get the company going and keep the company moving forward. On our 45th anniversary I think it’s only appropriate to mention some of them.

 Ward Spoonmore, my mentor and the smartest guy I ever met was the driving force behind the early technology, if it wasn’t for Ward JET Performance simply would not exist and I would have led a very different life for the past 28 years. Ward passed away in 2000, he is sorely missed, I think about him every day.

Art Seagraves, the company’s first sales manager, sold me accounting software for the company and then proceeded to sell me on the idea that he could sell the JET chips to the wholesale distributors. As it turned out he was right and he did! Art is no longer with us on this earth but I’m sure he is somewhere having one heck of a party!

My Wife Marilyn and my kids who put up with the 16 hour days and no weekends off for a lot of years and just putting up with me in general is no easy task.

Some of my guys , my brother Ross Seller, Dan Nicholas, Donnie Miller, Gus Stewart, John Howie, Sean Murphy, Johnnie Valdez, Jess Pranskus , Dave Harmon, Bill Runyon and so many others it’s impossible to mention them here have had a huge impact on the continuing success of the company . Some of these guys have been here since almost day one and as I mentioned some of them are no longer with us, but they were and are a big part of the company’s success.
